Recent Experience
- Advising an insurer on a USD 1 billion claim for loss of production following the failure on the main bearing on a FPSO offshore West Africa.
- Acting for the underwriters in a high value and heavily contested coverage dispute under a marine war risks policy. This high profile case, B Atlantic, was appealed to the Court of Appeal and then to the Supreme Court and ended with a judgement (and costs award) fully in underwriters’ favour.
- Advising on an insurance claim for damage to FPSO risers.
- Advising a SURF Contractor on its claim under an EPIC Contract relating to delays and design changes on a FPSO project in South America.
- Advising an oil company on a non-binding expert determination procedure employed to resolve disputes arising out of a project for the development of a 1,000,000 bpd oil field.
- Advising an oil company on a dispute relating to suspension of work and non-payment of hire following a number of health and safety incidents on board a drilling rig.
- Advising an offshore contractor on claims for additional remuneration and a schedule extension arising out of changes in law.
- Advising on numerous high value disputes arising from the long-term hire of a 30 year old drilling rig offshore South America.
- Advising on claims arising out of damage to a pipleline due to it being dropped during its installation in the GoM.
- Advising on disputes arising out of FPSO conversion contracts and contracts for life extension works.
- Advising on claim under a WELCAR policy in respect of a module dropped during construction.
- Advising on a coverage dispute relating to damage to wind turbine structures during transit following the collapse of a crane on a vessel.
- Advising on substantial warranty insurance claims in relation to defects discovered on a recently completed FPSO.
- Advising on a number of constructive total loss claims under war risks policies arising from detentions of vessels for a variety of reasons, including smuggling, illegal bunkering, collisions with loss of life and failures to comply with local laws and regulations
- Advising on a dispute relating to damage to a generator on a power barge.
- Advising on a coverage dispute on a delay in start up policy for a gas fired power station under construction in West Africa.
